Remembering the toss in the opener against KSU the year before, the Cougars leaped off to a 19-0 firstquarter lead. It was strictly an aerial attack (425 yards passing, 67 rushing) for the Cougars. Gifford Nielsen hit 27 of 45 for 318 yards, two TDs. Mike Chronister caught seven passes, two of them for scores, and Dev Duke got rolling with 11 points (two PAT, three field goals). Mekeli Ieremia was the standout on defense. |
