Billed as the game that would determine the WAC championship, the contest drew the largest football crowd in Anzona history - 38,295.

The Cougars hurt themselves in five turnovers (fumbles and interceptions) in its first 12 offensive plays.

By halftime the Sun Devils had a 17-0 lead, and it was 24-7 going into the fourth quarter.

Wilson completed only three of eight passes in the first half, but finished with a 38-21-3 in passing, and only one touchdown.
