In a non-league game the Cougars sought to maintain in-state pride. But as a team, BYU could not get on track the whole game.
The Cougars were the first to get on the scoreboard with a field goal in the first quarter, and it looked like BYU would have a three-point halftime lead.
In the last three minutes of the second quarter, Utah State scored 14 unanswered points to take a 14-3 lead.
In the second half, BYU had its chances to get back into the game, but with mistakes, plus a strong Aggie defensive line, BYU was unable to take the lead in the game.
For the first time this season a BYU running back had over 100 yards rushing as Eddie Stinnett ran for 106 yards.
