After an in-state loss to Utah State the week before, BYU was now back in the WAC wars to seek another win.
The Cougars were out to avenge the loss they suffered in Laramie last year.
After a scoreless first quarter, BYU was the first to get on the scoreboard with a touchdown run by Casey Tiumalu in the second quarter.
In the first half of the game, Steve Young set his first NCAA record by throwing 22 consecutive completions. Young threw eight pass completions in the Utah State game and 14 in the first half of the Wyoming game.
Kurt Gunther put the game on ice with a career-long 48-yard field goal in the last two minutes of the game.
BYU now 6-3 and 5-1 in the WAC.
