Before the largest sporting event crowd in Utah, each team attempted 54 passes.

BYU running back Vai Sikahema, playing for an injured Kelly Smith, scored two touchdowns rushing and set up a third TO with a 56-yard punt return.

The final contest for 17 Cougar seniors was marred by 20 penalties for 166 yards against BYU, with game time lasting four hours and three minutes.

Defensively, Cougar linebacker Leon White tallied 41 points, including five of BYU's 12 pass deflections, two sacks and two quarterback hurries.

Punter Lee Johnson averaged 50.7 yards on his nine punts and netted 19 yards rushing on a fake punt.

Quarterback Robbie Bosco set a pair of NCAA records for most games and most consecutive games passing over 200 yards in a season.

BYU now 12-0 overall and 8-0 in the WAC. BYU again ranked number one in both wire service polls.
