On ABC Regional TV the Cougars set a new school record for 18 consecutive victories.
After scoring strikes on each team's initial possessions, BYU's offense took the ball twice deep in its own territory thanks to a Cougar goal line stand and an interception. On one of those possessions AFA broke through to sack Robbie Bosco for a safety.
In the second half the snow began to fly.
BYU cushioned its margin by opening the second half with a scoring drive, but AFA's wishbone kept grinding out the yards on scoring drives.
The Cougars stopped the Falcons' attempt for a two-point conversion in the fourth quarter and then set up a 39-yard field goal by Lee Johnson for the final score of the day.
Cougar tight end David Mills came up with some clutch receptions, tallying 10 catches for 225 yards and one TD oft an "offensive interception."
Bosco had his most productive output to date with 484 yards passing and TD strikes of 52, 22, 56 and 54 yards.
BYU now 7-0 overall and 4-0 in the WAC. BYU ranked fourth in AP and fifth in UPI and moved up to number two in Sports Illustrated.
