Nearly six inches of snow fell, mostly in the first half before the largest crowd ever to witness this rivalry in Logan.
BYU was impressive in two long first-quarter drives which were some of the best of the season, according to LaVell Edwards.
Robbie Bosco only played 28 minutes in the first half of the contest. Bosco suffered a left shoulder bruise, but could have returned to the game were it not for the poor weather conditions.
Bosco passed for a pair of touchdowns in the first half, while Vai Sikahema rushed for a pair of TDs in the second half.
Defensive back Rodney Thomas accounted for two of the Cougars' five interceptions, one in each half. Another interception by Leon White was returned for a 34-yard TD.
The Cougars racked up 400 of their 600 yards total oftense in the first half.
Bosco reported the snow flurries to be so strong that he could only see the lower half of his receivers' bodies-their blue pants.
All of the Cougar starters were rested on the sidelines by the fourth quarter, with many of the reserves seeing extensive action.
BYU now 8-2 overall following this non-WAC contest and ranked 15th in UPI and 16th in AP.
