This was BYU's first game of 1985 without a miscue in the kicking game.
Running back Tom Tuipulotu had his best game as a Cougar with 45 of his 120 yards rushing coming from a third quarter TD scamper.
Wide receiver Mark Bellini suffered a shoulder separation. Linebacker Cary Whittingham returned to starting action.
San Diego State mounted two scoring drives, one in each half, which were snuffed out by BYU's defense.
In the second quarter immediately following Bosco's second interception, Cougar linebacker Leon White blocked an Aztec pass and then intercepted it on the BYU 21 yardline. And in the fourth quarter, BYU stymied SDSU for five plays, beginning with a first and goal.
Cotton and Bluebonnet Bowl observers also saw defensive tackle Jason Buck lead the Cougar defense with a quarterback sack and three quarterback hurries, which earned him WAC defensive player of the week honors.
BYU now 5-1 overall, 2-0 in WAC play and ranked eighth in UPI and ninth in AP.
