The top-ranked Seminoles had too much speed for the Cougars, who were playing with new offensive and defensive lines and new receivers in the Disneyland Pigskin Classic. Ty Detmer completed 19 of 32 passes for 229 yards and Micah Matsuzaki caught four passes for 73 yards but the Cougars fell behind 28-7 early in the second quarter and couldn't recover. Edgar Bennett had 98 yards rushing while Amp Lee and Sean Jackson added 75 each. Eric Turral had six catches for 96 yards and Bennett caught six Casey Weldon (21 of 28) passes for 65 yards. Peter Tuipulotu had two touchdown runs for BYU while Eric Drage and Erik Hughes caught touchdown passes in the fourth quarter. BYU is 0-1. |
