Day game (65°, partly cloudy) at Cougar Stadium, Provo (65,866)

For the first time since 1982, Hawaii made a visit to Provo.

BYU scored first and never looked back as Ty Detmer tossed a 21-yard scoring strike to Nati Valdez.

After Hawaii fumbled on the BYU two-yard line, BYU marched 98 yards in 14 plays and scored when Detmer found Matt Zundel in the back of the end zone.

Hawaii added two second quarter scores--the first, a one-yard Michael Carter keeper and the second a 46-yard Jason Elam field goal.

The Cougars scored on a five-yard pitchout to freshman Jamal Willis and BYU led at the half 21-10.

Hawaii fumbled on the first play of the second-half and three plays later Detmer found Eric Drage.

After Hawaii's Winston Haynes punted to the BYU one-yard line, Detmer engineered a five play, 99-yard drive that took just one minute with Jamal Willis going the final 44 yards.

Hawaii scored a late touchdown on a 34-yard pass from Ivan Jasper to Darrick Branch and Garrett Awai ran in the PAT. BYU is now 4-3 (3-0).
