Nov. 7, 1992--day game (58°, sunny) at Cougar Stadium, Provo (62,567).
BYU records its first season shutout although a string of 30 consecutive sellouts is broken.
The Cougars' air assault amasses 256 passing yards while the defense holds New Mexico scoreless in three red zone attacks.
The play of the day comes on a 47-yard pass from Ryan Hancock to Terence Saluone. Saluone makes a left-handed circus catch at the New Mexico 30-yard line and sprints to the goal line behind the diving blocks of wide receivers Eric Drage and Bryce Doman.
New Mexico's only bright spot comes in freshman Winslow Oliver, who breaks the 1,000-yard mark for the season, rushing 26 times for 130 yards.
Also passing the 1,000-yard milestone is BYU's Eric Drage, whose four receptions for 80 yards pushes him to a season 1,043.
The victory boosts BYU to a second place tie in the WAC race and a possible bowl bid. The Cougars are now 6-4.
